All those times I came so close.
I remember, I remember.
Invisible other? That was me.
I remember, I remember.
I remember how it felt.
I remember, I remember.
Teacher waiting ‘neath the Learning Tree.
I remember, I remember.
I remember her dimly.
I remember, I remember.
Softly. Fondly. Darkly.
Dimly….
Dimly….
I am memory living memories
I remember, I remember.
This is how I interpret the now.
I remember, I remember.
I.
Re-member.
I.
The pull of time is similar to the call of Truth in that both are you. And what are you, really? A physicalized force of creating, a form creating other forms. Also, you are formless Being, which transcends and includes you as form creating other forms. One aspect is not evil and the other good. They are both you, it’s just that there’s a paradox, which is that that which is most you—formless Being—is least apparent. Least apparent because formless Being is paved over by the obvious, by creations, such as ideas, around which we organize.
The difference between ideas that we organize around and timeless qualities, like beauty and Love, is that those timeless qualities exist on their own. Objects we create to express them, to wrap around the qualities, or to pretend they are one and the same, crumble and die, but never the qualities themselves. Ideas not founded on timeless qualities that we gussy up with belief, organization, and other structures, also blow away on the winds of time when those perspectives have run their course.
We are—rather, one is—timeless Being. But that doesn’t mean we will ever self-identify other than we do now. We may hold the truth of us at bay indefinitely. We may only know time and ourselves in it, for time breaks oneness into things. Time is the state of separation, duality, measure, and divorce. Time cannot recognize timelessness as that which transcends and includes it, it must view such transcendence as a separate other, a duality, a measure, divorced. And so time must also have its own perpetual quality: fear.
For organisms, fear is the glue that holds the illusions of time and separation together because it is the base ingredient to consciousness in-and-of time. Fear, time, and body-identified self are inseparable. Fear of death, often expressed as the avoidance of death, is completely healthy. It is what keeps this existence going. And it will be expressed by other organisms whether people blossom into timeless Being-self identity or not.
We do not have to self-identify as fear. Not doing so requires we neither resist nor give in to the pull of time. The pull of time is the pull of you—the pull of the fear of death. Giving in is the coward’s way. Resisting it is the coward’s way. Understanding is the only way that frees us from fear, time, and therefore ourselves.
What happens when one sees this with fear-piercing clarity?
